Barszczewski" Sujet/Subject: R.U.N. Friday night is the opening of La Brique as a techno-rave bar. Tiega (from DNA) is going to be the main DJ/promoter and Justin will be running the smart bar. BTW, that guy is making a killing, it is time for some competition in smart products! Everyone should go on Friday as it is the big night. [Ed note: which is basically what i said in #7 8)] This Wednesday Feb 10th, is Rave 2000 at Big Bang. Address: 1400 Montcalm at St. Catherine. [Ed note: Rave 2002. It's the continuation on rave 1001] For your favourite rave gear (Anarchic, Blue System, New Wave, etc.) go to Juan and Juanita in the Cours Montreal. I haven't found anywhere good for footwear yet. [Ed note: If others have found some interesting rave gear, do tell us please!] Regards, Peter A. Barszczewski ( * (barsz@bnr.ca) ) ~|~ peace. Bell-Northern Research, Ltd. ( | Montreal, Canada ) De/From: dionf@ERE.UMontreal.CA (Francois Dion) Sujet/Subject: Lots o'stuff. Wednesday i'll be at: RAVE 2002 at BIGBANG. I'll be at the DJ booth (near the 2 pool tables) at midnight. Friday after my radio show i'll be at La Brique (since i finish at midnight, i wont get there till 12:30. To be sure, i'll be at the DJ booth at 12:45) As always look for my red CD with diagonal white stripes. Maintenant, comme il y a des nouveaux (mes excuses si je ne vous ai pas inscrit tout de suite), je redemande: dois-je faire la liste bilingue? Greetings to the new subscribers and to the older which i forgot! (I'm sorry if some of you weren't put on the list before today, but the subscription is not automated...) Regarding DISKO (and events at KOX) i should have warned you that it was a gay club (most people know but...). Somebody told me in email that he went to SHHHH! and was a bit freaked and asked me if i was gay. Well, no, i'm not. I've been to KOX, but it's preferable to not go alone... 8). If you are new to the rave scene, stick with the clubs like BigBang at first. After you'll know the people in the scene (well, not ALL of them!) you'll be more comfortable to go at more underground raves. On Citybeat (during newswatch on CBC 6) i have seen several times techno related things: a rave in a warehouse (looked like Montreal nord), techno music in clubs and this week: monday: smartdrinks and smartbar (with Tiga and Justin showing off) and tuesday: technological art (slices of objects, like a car) and colour scans (electrography like on Eon's album). BTW, Peter, it's the kind of thing you can expect at the art galery in St-Lambert 8) (for anybody interested, the exposition is at 250 St-Laurent, St-Lambert. For info call 672-4772). Oh well, i'm a bit lazy so the moby/prodigy review will be for tomorrow (again!) Speaking of Moby, in la presse and Voir, they had articles on him and both were not very optimistic on techno. But of course, what do you expect from a guy like Laurent Saulnier who said that the Niagara album was a flop because it used some samples. Personnally i think Niagara has put out the best album you can do by mixing 60s rock with hammond B3's and a S1100 akai sampler! Still in the paper media, anybody has seen the TIMES article on cyberpunks and raves? Tell me what you think of it... A note before i go to sleep: we are now over 30 on the list. Keep the techno growing! I want to bust 100 subscribers (so maybe i'll get more than 1 message per week 8) ). So tell all your friends about R.U.N. and distribute the digests. Print rave en couleur! (the weekly rave listing) and post it around!
