Greetings, Thanks for the 808 State special coming up. I've got matters that I would like to mention and ask of you. Firstly, Ozone does play some good techno music, but I always find that the people at the clubs are just as important as the music that is being played. I find the people at Ozone elitist snobs, who are just too preoccupied with how they look to try and enjoy themselves. The music is good (the neon dancers are wild!) but the people don't get down with it. What do you think? Have you been at Ozone lately? Secondly, I remember a while back when you played some bootlegs from the Moby/Prodigy concert at Metropolis. Good stuff (The Whores of Jericho!!!!). I don't know if you listen to the Mind Drop show on CKUT (90.3 FM) but they had an interview with Moby on Feb 23. Just thought I'd pass that along to ya. Lastly, what's the latest info on upcoming concerts or techno raves? I feel completely clued out sometimes. Anyhow, keep up the good work. The Road Warrior bids you adieu... It was doing very badly the last few weekends, and was not open the past weekend. Word on the street is that techno is canceled there. I associate this with the fact that the venue was still being associated with its old "rocker" image ... something the techno crowd is not into. My guess is that Teiga will be going for the job at La Beat (Francois, why don't you go for it?). The name "La Beat" has a special meaning in my heart as it is the name of the first club I used to go to in Montreal (some 10 years ago). It used to be on St. Catherine near Peel. I used to bus up to Montreal from Ottawa, club all night and then catch the bus home in the morning .... ah, the memories. I went to a "rave" on Saturday on St. Jean in old Montreal. It was interesting, but not all together successful. I put the "rave" in quotes because it was pretty well all house and tribal, no hardcore or trance. The crowd looked like a combination of K.O.X. and de Salvio's. It was in the basement of an old building which made the atmosphere cool (it was also freezing until people started dancing and generating some heat). They had an amazing sound system (all JBL speakers), lots of projection screens, dry ice, and a lot of lights. They charged us $10 to get in and then $3.25 for soft drinks ... no smart bar, no alcohol. I left at about 3:30 and there was only about 75 people there, but people were still arriving, so maybe I should have stayed. Why don't we organize a "R.U.N" run, that is we all get together at some of the clubs on the mentioned nights. Tuesday: Backstreet Wednesday: Subway Thursday: Tunnel Saturday: Ozone. I will also have a vox system (voice mailbox and information service) setup very soon, and will make the "Rave en couleur" weekly listing available to record stores and other rave related places. Well, dont feel like that, i am also in the dark! One of the reason is that presently the scene is quiet. Regarding concerts, i forgot that consolidated were in Montreal this weekend... Also, Bizarre Inc will be in town in april (they do I'm gonna get you and also the mega huge european success, but less known here "playing with knives").
