UTOPIAN REALIGNMENT An Exploration of Explorative Forms of Dance Music With Robert Shea This month's is going to be ridiculously short, fortunately not due to the lack of great music available to write about, but due to the fact that I am in the midst of a relocation that has temporarily made it difficult to properly compose appropriate reviews and musings on this month's selection of amazing new sounds (and with limited time to make it all make sense!). The details of my situation will be disclosed at a later date and the results will put me in an even more advantaged position for exposing and supporting exciting music and those who are making it. At this point in time I would like to sincerely thank all the people who have enriched my musical life over the years, and who give me ecstatic reasons for looking forward to the future. I would also like to thank all those people who have exposed me directly to so much wonderful music, so that I can maintain my ability to expose others through my writings in Streetsound, Index, Discotext and especially this column in this wonderful little paper, XLR8R. Special thanks for giving me the spread to really let my ideas, views and reviews run amuck! For ten years now I have been deeply entrenched in the pursuit of sonic excitation, through writing, publishing, DJing, producing, promoting and especially listening, and never in all those years have I been so truly inspired by what I hear as I am now. To name but a few (and risk overlooking others equally worthy) I can site as prophets of promise and posterity, artists and labels such as Banco De Gaia, Exist Dance, Orbital, Phil Western, Eat Static, Planet Dog, Cabaret Voltaire, Space Teddy, Silent, Sven Vath, Outersanctum, Harthouse, Eye Q, Recycle or Die, ESP, Go Bang!, Adham Shaikh, Reload, Psychick Warriors, Exquisite Corpse, Vapour Space, +8, Aphex Twin, Astralwerks, Infonet, Tox, EXperimental, Higher Intelligence Agency, R&S, FNAC, Irresistible Force, Paradise 3001, Future Sound of London, Dominic Woosey, The Orb, Organico, Sabres of Paradise, FFRR, GTO, Underground Resistance, Warp, Dr. Motte, Magnetic North, Labworks, Frankie Bones, MFS, SubMerge, Thunderpussy, Eddy Fowlkes, Richie Hawtin, Oliver Lieb, B12, Sandoz, Black Dog, Brute, Lumakanda, Beyond, Hardkiss, Trip'n'Spin, Ralf Hildenbeutel, Pete Namlook, Apollo, Fred Gianelli, Red Planet, Horizon 222, Psychic TV and others. Naturally this list is only a cross section of who's out there, so forgive me if I have overlooked someone. Sorry for such a short column, I hope to make up for it next month with a mega- stream of "pseudo-intellectual techno geek anti-soul snobbery". What else?
